RARITAN TOWNSHIP MUNICIPAL UTILITIES AUTHORITY

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that as set forth in Raritan Township Municipal Utilities Authority ("Authority") Resolution #2010 - 69, the Authority will be accepting applications for conditional allocation of wastewater treatment capacity pursuant to the Rules, Regulations and Procedures of the Authority. Applications are available at the Authority offices located at 365 Old York Road, Flemington, New Jersey 08822 and from the Authority's website at www.rtmua.com. The Authority's telephone number is 908-782-7453. Applications must be received by the Authority, along with the applicable non - refundable application fee of $75.00, no later than 4:00pm on August 4, 2010.

RTMUA is a 3.8 mgd conventional activated sludge wastewater treatment facility which includes 11 pump stations and a 61 mile collection system. The facility includes a septage/greywater receiving facility. Belt filter presses dewater sludge for offsite incineration. Also operates and maintains a wet weather facility. Operating crew consists of approximately 20 employees and is unionized. The Board of Commissioners consists of five members.

The Raritan Township Municipal Utilities Authority (RTMUA), which provides sewer service to parts of Raritan Township, would like to remind its customers that sump pumps, floor drains, roof leaders etc. are not to be connected into the sanitary sewer system.

RTMUA's Sewer Use and Regulations state, "No person shall connect roof, foundation, areaway, parking lot, roadway, or other surface runoff or groundwater drains to any sewer which is connected to a Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) facility unless such connection is authorized in writing by the Authority."

These additional flows create stress on our sewer plant and will eventually cause a fee increase to pay for changes needed to process the extra flow. The user fee has stayed the same for the past five years and, with your help in this area, we will continue to work to keep it reasonable.
